EL-SERIES EL 006 – EL 1600
Extremely compact, modular, flexibleThe EL series offers extremely compact, plug-in compressor cooling units that are ideal for the economical cooling of a wide range of processes.
The EL chiller generation includes a new housing concept that meets the customer’s requirement for the smallest possible footprint while maintaining a high degree of flexibility.
By using innovative technology and future-oriented refrigerants, EL chillers achieve high energy savings with a short amortization time.
Based on a modular unit concept, with cooling capacity classes up to 160 kW, a wide range of configurations can be provided to create customized units that meet specific customer requirements and applications.
The chillers are also available as continuous-flow chillers (without tank, with or without pump). If cooling water is available, all units are also available in a water-cooled version or as a pure heat exchanger without compressor.

SPECIFICATIONS
Installation
At the air inlet—through a filter grille on the back of the cooling unit—there should be a minimum distance of 0.5 m to a wall; at the air outlet—on the top of the unit—there should be a distance of 1–1.5 m to wall and ceiling surfaces. It must also be ensured that neither air flow resistance nor air recirculation occurs
Refrigerant
For the power classes EL 006 to EL 075, we use the refrigerant R513A as standard; for the power classes EL 092 to EL 138, we use the refrigerant R513A or alternatively R410A depending on the requirement. For EL 190 to EL 1600, we use the refrigerant R410A. If required, R513A can also be used or our new A2L alternatives.
Temperature control range
The cooling medium flow temperature can be set as standard between +15 °C and +25 °C as required. From a flow temperature below +12 °C or lower, the Ecodesign Directive (European Directive for cooling units used in Europe) applies. At temperatures below the ambient temperature and at high humidity, condensation can form on non-insulated components. To prevent condensation, the use of an ambient temperature-controlled controller or complete insulation on the water side is recommended (see options).
Hysteresis and switching frequency
The standard setting for the switching differential is +/-1 K, depending on the model. This setting optimizes the switching frequency of the compressor. With smaller switching differentials, it must be ensured that the compressor does not exceed more than 12 to 15 switching operations an hour, as this would otherwise significantly shorten the service life of the component. If a higher temperature accuracy is required, the chillers can be equipped with a hot gas bypass control, which we offer as either a 0.5 K control or a high precision 0.002 K control. For chillers with higher power classes (e.g. >8 kW) and higher temperature accuracy requirements, the use of frequency-controlled compressors instead of hot gas bypass control is recommended.
Cooling medium
The appropriate components are configured in the water circuit depending on the cooling medium. This allows pipes made of copper or plastic, steel or stainless steel to be used. The cooling medium can be a water-glycol mixture (max. glycol content of 40%, e.g. Antifrogen N), distilled / demineralized water or mineral oil according to DIN 51524 T1 and T2. The cooling medium affects the dimensioning and design of the pump and the evaporator.
Ambient temperature
The permissible ambient temperatures are between +15 °C and +42 °C as standard. The performance data refers to and ambient temperature of +32 °C. A power reduction of approximately 2% per 1 K temperature increase occurs between +32 °C and +42 °C. In addition, the chillers can be equipped for outside temperatures as low as -30 °C or as high as +55 °C with corresponding option packages.
Protection class
Protection classes IP 44 or IP 54 apply to all sizes.
Paint finish
Our standard paint colour is RAL 7035. Our in-house paint shop can provide customized paintwork in any RAL color. For outdoor installation, the base/struts are made of stainless steel and the painted sheet metal parts are coated with a separate primer and additional UV protective paint.
